Parish Magazine Blocks Freethinkers
The Parish Magazine refuses to carry articles
submitted by Mid Sussex Freethinkers. Neither will it be listed as
one of Balcombe's organisations.
Balcombe has only one village magazine. This
is partly funded by the Church of England and run by the local church.
Obviously, there is only room for one village
magazine. Whoever runs it surely has a responsibility to do so impartially
and for the benefit of the entire village. There should be no religious
censorship. 15-30% of people do not believe in God, and at least
40% of young people are agnostic or atheist.
By the way, the village website www.balcombevillage.co.uk
gives full coverage to all clubs and organisations, including the
churches.
