Mid Sussex Freethinkers
Members of Mid Sussex Freethinkers share the aims of the Humanist
Association (BHA) and National Secular Society (NSS).
We are a voice for the non-religious residents of Mid Sussex,
and aim to balance the influence of religious organisations in local
government.
We aim to be a converging point for the views and concerns of
the non-religious in Mid Sussex.
Local Strategy
Represent the interests of the non-religious in Mid Sussex
by:
Attending local government consultations
with religious and belief organisations
Attend meetings of religious and belief organisations that are funded
by local government, e.g. Crawley Interfaith Network
Attend West Sussex County Council SACRE (Standing Advisory Council
on Religious Education)
Liaise with local officials to promote inclusion of the non-religious
in local government
Raise awareness of Humanism through:

Leaflets and posters
Local events
Newspaper articles
Speakers
Celebrating international days of commemoration, e.g. Darwin Day,
International Women's Day
Respond to local issues and concerns raised by residents by:
Offering assistance and advice
Acting as an intermediary
Lobbying councillors and MPs
Work with the BHA and NSS:
Support national campaigns
Provide local feedback
Hold periodic meetings to take forward this strategy.
