Welcome to Mid Sussex Freethinkers

We share the principles and aims of the British Humanist Association and the National Secular Society, as outlined below. We also have a local strategy. New members are always welcome.

What does the group do?

The group meets regularly to discuss local and national issues. They organise local action, events and campaigns. Members keep in touch via the discussion forum.

What you can do to help

Campaign for Humanist representation on West Sussex SACRE

In March 2007, West Sussex County Council voted against including a Humanist representative on the Standing Advisory Committee for Religious Education (SACRE).

If you want the many non-religious residents of West Sussex to be represented in RE, email your local councillor. It only takes a few minutes.

Take this poll. Please only vote once.

Keep our welfare services secular

Read more about it here and find out what you can do to help locally.

Do you know of any secular bodies holding religious services in West Sussex?

The only way to celebrate Remembrance Day seems to be in a church. But what about other celebrations, e.g. a Mayor's civic service? Report any you know about in the discussion forum.
